Women Accepting Responsibility is a not-for profit community based minority organization…, serving women and adolescent females of color. Women Accepting Responsibility was established in 1995 to service the community and introduce positive behavioral changes. This vision was birthed out of a personal experience when Ms. Tucker’s (founding Executive Director) youngest daughter succumbed to HIV/AIDS. She discovered the healthcare delivery system and the social support network was inadequate in fulfilling these needs of the community. There was a need for advocacy and mental health programs, non-judgmental, compassionate, faith based and educational forums with the goal on instituting change, and empowering the community to make more informed healthy choices, thus the organization was established.
We provide diverse health, risk reduction educational services to reduce through care and prevention, the spread of HIV/AIDS, drug abuse, sexually transmitted infections, incarceration and recidivism rate, promoting empowerment. Men are not excluded. |
